We help growing UK SMEs replace manual processes, disconnected systems and poor visibility with a better way of working in Business Central. We learn how your business works, challenge inefficient ways of working and configure Business Central around what your business needs next.
In just 45 minutes, we'll assess your current systems and show how a modern ERP could improve your business.
You’re probably not considering Business Central because you simply want new software. Usually, something in the way your business works today is becoming harder, slower or more difficult to control.
A Business Central partner should do more than configure software and move your data across.
They should understand how your business works today, identify where time and effort are being wasted, challenge processes that no longer make sense and help you design a better way of working.
So, what should a good Business Central delivery look like? ...
Before recommending a solution, your partner should understand how work actually gets done.
That means looking at the real processes your teams follow, the systems they rely on and the workarounds that have developed over time.
They should be able to spot where your business is losing time, effort or visibility.
Manual processing, duplicate data entry, bottlenecks and disconnected information should all be examined before the system is designed.
A good partner shouldn’t simply recreate every existing process.
If something is inefficient or unnecessarily complex, they should be willing to challenge it and explain what a better approach could look like.
The conversation should move from “how do we do this today?” to “how should this work in future?”
That may mean removing steps, simplifying handovers, improving ownership or introducing automation where it adds value.
Business Central should support the improved process — not dictate it.
Configuration comes after the thinking, so the system reflects a better way of working rather than simply digitising old problems.
Does this actually work for your people?
Before you go live, your Business Central partner should validate the new processes with the people who will use them day to day. Testing isn’t just about checking that the software works.
Choosing the right Business Central partner is about more than software knowledge. You need a team that understands Business Central, your processes and the wider Microsoft ecosystem - with the structure and accountability to deliver a successful project.

stabilise → adopt → enable
Business Central should do more than support the way your business works today. Our Stabilise, Adopt and Enable framework gives you a structured path from a dependable system, to confident users, to ongoing improvement through automation, optimisation and new functionality.
Before you can get more from Business Central, the fundamentals need to be right.
We focus on creating a stable environment with consistent processes, reliable information and fewer avoidable issues — giving your teams confidence that the system can support the work they need to do.
Where this takes you:
A dependable Business Central environment your people can trust.
A well-configured system only creates value if your people know how to use it effectively.
We help embed Business Central into everyday ways of working, giving users the support and knowledge they need to work consistently and reduce reliance on unnecessary workarounds.
Where this takes you:
More confident users, stronger adoption and more consistent ways of working.
Once the system is stable and your teams are using it confidently, the focus moves to what comes next.
We help you identify opportunities to automate processes, introduce new functionality, improve reporting and make better use of Business Central as your business evolves.
Where this takes you:
More automation, better insight and a platform that keeps progressing with the business.
How much involvement will your team need?
A successful project needs input from the people who know your business best. We involve key stakeholders and process owners at the right points — during discovery, decision-making and validation — so you can contribute what matters without being pulled into every detail.
We also agree responsibilities, key decisions and project checkpoints early, so both teams know what they own and what happens next.
Clear involvement, without unnecessary disruption.
We make responsibilities and timings clear from the start, so your team knows when input is needed and can plan around it.
How does data migration and training work?
We configure Business Central around the agreed design, then identify what data needs to move, clean and map it, and test the migration before go-live.
Your users are involved in testing and training too, so they can work through real scenarios, validate the new processes and build confidence.
Data migration and training are planned early, tested properly and not left until the end.
Prepared before go-live, not left until the end.
Data, testing and training are built into the project plan early so there are fewer surprises later.
How is risk and disruption kept under control?
We plan the move to Business Central carefully, with agreed cutover steps, final checks, user readiness & clear responsibilities to reduce surprises.
Your team knows what is changing, what they need to do and where to go for support, helping keep disruption to day-to-day operations low.
The aim is a controlled go-live with fewer surprises, clear support and minimal disruption.
A controlled transition with support around launch.
Regular checkpoints, final validation and a clear cutover plan help keep the move to Business Central manageable.
With multiple income streams, grant-funded projects and a broad network of cost centres, Nene Park Trust needed a partner that could understand how its organisation really worked—not simply configure a new system. Following a thorough review of its options, confidence in HBP’s knowledge of the Trust and ability to manage such a significant change helped tip the decision in favour of Business Central.
Nene Park Trust manages a complex organisation with multiple income streams, grant-funded projects and a broad network of cost centres. Its previous finance system had become a bottleneck, with reporting heavily reliant on manual exports and Excel. Reports were slow to produce, difficult to rebuild and often undermined by inconsistent data and fragile workflows.
The Trust needed a more reliable way to produce management information, improve visibility across projects and departments, and support better strategic decision-making as the organisation continued to grow and diversify.
Nene Park already had an existing relationship with The HBP Group through KCPOS and VisiTickets, which meant there was already an understanding of the organisation, its structure and its wider goals. After reviewing several finance system options, Business Central was selected because it could support the Trust’s reporting, cost-centre and operational requirements.
Just as importantly, the Trust had confidence in HBP’s ability to manage the change and deliver a system that reflected how the organisation actually worked. The solution was designed around granular cost-centre tracking, structured management reporting, self-serve access to data and cloud-based working.
The implementation focused on giving Nene Park a finance system that was more reliable, flexible and aligned to the organisation’s real structure. Business Central, supported by Jet reporting, gave the team more detailed reporting by cost centre, project, fund and team, while also modernising access to financial information.
Since go-live, the Trust has reported a significant improvement in both speed and confidence. Management accounts that previously took until week two or three of the month are now produced by day five, making the process around three times faster. Leadership has greater trust in the data, reporting is more useful, and the finance team is able to play a more strategic role across the organisation.
Business Central produced trusted management reports three times faster, with clearer visibility across projects, funds and cost centres.
“People are happier, the information is trusted, and we’re moving faster than ever before.”
Charles Benn, Business Partner
Business Central automated repetitive tasks for Hinchliffe Hydraulics, saving more than a working week of time each year.
“I want to automate, use Power BI and include AI. Business Central gives us that foundation.”
Stewart Hinchliffe, Finance Director

Business Central costs depend on two main areas: the Microsoft licences you need and the cost of implementing and configuring the system around your business.
Implementation costs vary depending on factors such as the number of users, complexity of your processes, data migration, integrations, reporting requirements and any additional functionality required.
We’ve covered Microsoft licensing, implementation costs and the factors that affect your overall investment in more detail on our Business Central pricing page.
A Business Central partner should do more than configure the software.
A good partner will help you understand your requirements, review and challenge existing processes, design how Business Central should work for your organisation, migrate your data, prepare your users and support you after go-live.
The aim should be to improve how your business works — not simply reproduce your existing processes in a new system.
Look for a Business Central partner with proven ERP experience, consultants who understand your business processes, clear project methodology, relevant industry knowledge and a structured approach to ongoing support.
You should also understand who will actually work on your project, how responsibilities are managed and whether the partner has the wider Microsoft expertise needed to support integrations, reporting and automation around Business Central.
There is no single implementation timescale because every organisation is different.
The length of a Business Central project will depend on factors such as process complexity, data migration, integrations, custom requirements, number of users and how quickly key decisions can be made.
A good Business Central partner should define the scope, responsibilities, milestones and likely timescale before the main implementation begins.
Your team will need to be involved, particularly during discovery, process decisions, data validation, testing and training.
That does not mean your people should be pulled into every technical detail. A structured project should make it clear who needs to contribute, when their input is required and which decisions they are responsible for.
At The HBP Group, we agree responsibilities and project checkpoints early so both teams understand what happens next.
Yes. Data migration is normally a key part of moving to Business Central.
The process typically involves deciding which data needs to move, cleaning and mapping it, completing test migrations and validating the results ahead of go-live.
The exact approach will depend on your existing system, the quality and volume of your data and how much historical information you need to retain.
Yes. Business Central can be integrated with other Microsoft technologies and third-party systems where there is a clear business requirement.
This might include reporting, e-commerce, CRM, warehouse systems, payroll, specialist industry applications or other operational platforms.
A Business Central partner should first understand why the systems need to connect and then recommend the most appropriate integration approach.
Yes. You can change Business Central partner without replacing your Business Central system.
We can review your existing environment, integrations, customisations, support arrangements and outstanding issues before agreeing a controlled transition.
This allows us to understand how Business Central is currently being used, what is working well and where further support or improvement may be needed.
We support both new Business Central projects and organisations already using the platform.
If Business Central is already in place, we can help with ongoing support, user training, process improvement, reporting, integrations, new functionality and optimisation.
Go-live should not mean being left to manage the system alone.
At The HBP Group, every new project moves into a 12-week HyperCare period with guaranteed one-to-one consultant time and regular check-ins while your team settles into the system.
After that, you move into ongoing support, training, system reviews and continuous improvement so Business Central can continue evolving with your business.
Yes, but customisation should not automatically be the first answer.
A good Business Central partner should first understand the process and determine whether standard functionality, configuration or process change can meet the requirement.
Where additional functionality is genuinely needed, Business Central can be extended or integrated with other applications.
Our approach combines Business Central and ERP experience with finance-aware consultants, process improvement, structured accountability and wider Microsoft expertise.
We don't believe a Business Central project should simply recreate the way your business works today. We first understand your processes, challenge unnecessary complexity and help you design a better future state before configuring the technology around it.
And the relationship continues beyond go-live through HyperCare, ongoing support, training and continuous improvement.
