Users are provided with their put away instructions for goods arriving at your warehouse, which include best bin location based on capacity and zone. Pick runs are determined by chosen criteria too, enabling efficient picking routes. When you only need to unload/reload goods quickly, cross-docking speeds up your deliveries.
Inventory and warehouse reporting in Business Central allows you to get insights and statistics around current and past inventory and warehouse activities. Use data to calculate and optimise capacity and resources to improve production schedules and efficiency and use that data against your service level agreements.
When item postings occur outside the warehouse module, a default adjustment bin per location is used to synchronise warehouse entries with inventory entries. During physical inventory of the warehouse, any differences between the calculated and counted quantities are recorded in the adjustment bin and then posted as correcting item ledger entries.
It’s important for any business to keep track of inventory, but particularly as they grow. Implementation of lot numbers and tracking means you can trace items as they move across internal warehouses, or outbound and inbound transactions and for general quality assurance, warranties, product recalls and expirations.
The system keeps a constant control of item availability, to provide optimal deliveries. Availability depends on existing allocation at bin level (including picks and movements) and complies with any set restrictions. An intelligent algorithm confirms all conditions are met before allocating quantities to picks for outbound flows.
Transferring inventory is simple and can be done by either transfer orders or the item reclassification journal. With transfer orders, you ship outbound from one location and receive inbound at the other location and means there’s certainty that inventory qty is updated correctly. Or, simply fill in the Location Code and the New Location Code fields.
Sometimes items need to go straight from receival to shipment. When you cross-dock items, you process items in receiving and shipping without ever placing them in storage, thereby expediting the item through the put-away and pick processes and limiting the physical handling of items. Ideal for quick order turnaround.
