What’s New in Pegasus Opera 3 Version 3.03.10?

Pegasus Opera 3 version 3.03.10 is now available for both SQL Server Edition and Visual FoxPro customers.

This latest release introduces a number of improvements across reporting, purchase invoice processing, credit management, employee records and payroll, alongside support for newer Microsoft environments.

For most customers, there is no immediate requirement to upgrade simply because the new version is available.

However, if you are running an older version of Opera 3, or some of the new functionality would be useful to your finance or payroll teams, it may be worth understanding what has changed.

Here are the main updates.

Improved reporting and export options

One of the more useful areas of improvement in Opera 3 3.03.10 is reporting.

The XFRX reporting component has been updated to version 25.00, bringing security enhancements as well as additional reporting and export options for SQL Server Edition customers.

For organisations that regularly produce reports from Opera 3, these changes should provide more flexibility around how information is generated and distributed.

If your finance team currently spends time taking report data out of Opera 3 and reworking it elsewhere, it may be worth reviewing whether some of the newer output options could simplify that process.

More information in the Purchase Invoice Register

The Purchase Invoice Register has also been improved.

Purchase Order information is now more visible within the PIR Processing Lines view, making it easier for users to see relevant purchasing details while working through invoices.

This may sound like a relatively small enhancement, but for finance teams that spend a lot of time processing and checking purchase invoices, easier access to the right information can remove unnecessary clicks and reduce time spent switching between screens.

More reports can now be exported to Excel

Opera 3 3.03.10 introduces additional Excel export functionality.

The following reports can now be exported directly to Microsoft Excel:

  • Purchase Invoice Register Transaction List
  • Sales Ledger Unallocated Items Report

For teams that already use Excel for further analysis, reconciliation or management reporting, this gives them another route to work with Opera 3 data without manually recreating the information.

It also builds on the wider reporting and Excel functionality already available within Opera 3.

Credit Management changes

There are also changes to Credit Management in the latest release.

The way the Chase Value is calculated has been updated so that unallocated receipts and adjustments are excluded.

For credit-control teams, this should provide a more accurate view of the amount that genuinely needs chasing.

That can be particularly useful where customer accounts contain payments, credits or other adjustments that have not yet been allocated.

Rather than those amounts affecting the figure shown for collection activity, the Chase Value can provide a cleaner indication of the outstanding balance requiring attention.

Employee email addresses can now be reused

Opera 3 3.03.10 also introduces a useful change around employee records.

Email addresses can now be reused for employees who leave the organisation and subsequently return.

Previously, this could create additional administration where an employee rejoined the business using the same email address.

It is a relatively small change, but one that removes unnecessary friction for payroll and HR teams managing returning employees.

Payroll Self-Service improvements

A new version of PWX — version 2.20.40 — is also available alongside the Opera 3 update.

This introduces improvements to Multiuser Creation functionality within Payroll Self-Service.

For organisations using Opera 3 Payroll and Payroll Self-Service, this may help simplify the management of user accounts and access.

SEPA BACS changes

Version 3.03.10 also includes changes to support updated SEPA BACS requirements in Southern Ireland.

For customers affected by these requirements, the upgrade may therefore be more important than it is for other organisations.

If you are unsure whether this applies to your business, it is worth checking before deciding when to upgrade.

Newly supported environments

Opera 3 version 3.03.10 also adds support for newer Microsoft environments, including:

  • Windows 11 version 25H2
  • Microsoft Office Monthly Enterprise Channel version 2607

This is particularly relevant for organisations that are updating their wider IT environment and want to ensure Opera 3 remains compatible with the versions of Windows and Office they are using.

Do I need to upgrade to Opera 3 3.03.10?

For most customers, there is no immediate requirement to upgrade solely because version 3.03.10 is available.

However, you may want to consider upgrading if:

  • you would benefit from the new reporting options
  • the additional Excel exports would save your team time
  • the Credit Management changes are relevant to your process
  • you need support for one of the newly supported Windows or Office environments
  • you are affected by the SEPA BACS changes
  • you are currently running an older version of Opera 3

As always, the right timing will depend on your current setup and what functionality your organisation actually needs.

What about Opera 3 Payroll customers?

If you use Opera 3 Payroll, there may be no need to arrange a separate upgrade immediately.

The next Payroll Year End release in 2027 will incorporate the enhancements included in version 3.03.10.

That means customers who do not need any of the newer functionality straight away may prefer to wait and incorporate the update into their Payroll Year End upgrade.

However, if one of the changes above would be useful sooner, there is no need to wait until then.

What should you consider before upgrading?

Although the Opera 3 software update itself is provided free of charge by Pegasus, the work involved in carrying out the upgrade is chargeable.

It is also important not to treat the update as a simple one-click process.

Before upgrading, your current environment needs to be considered, including:

  • server operating systems
  • workstation operating systems
  • Microsoft Office versions
  • third-party applications
  • existing integrations
  • any other software connected to Opera 3

This helps reduce the risk of compatibility issues and ensures the upgrade is planned around your existing setup.

Is it worth upgrading if everything is working today?

Potentially, yes — but not automatically.

If Opera 3 is running well and none of the new features are particularly relevant to your business, there may be no urgency.

On the other hand, staying reasonably current can help make sure you continue to benefit from the latest fixes, supported environments and functionality.

The most useful question is therefore:

“Would this release improve anything we are doing today?”

If the answer is yes, it may be worth discussing the upgrade sooner.

If not, it may make more sense to include it as part of a future planned update.
