What I do at The HBP Group

As the Group People & Culture Director, I lead the development and execution of the company’s People Strategy to align with organisational objectives. My role includes enhancing employee engagement and cultivating a high-performance culture. I also focus on compliance, talent acquisition, compensation strategy and initiatives like The HBP Academy to support talent development.

What makes me good at my job

My ability to balance strategic oversight with practical execution is what I believe sets me apart. My ability to align people strategies with business objectives ensures that both organisational goals and employee needs are met. I am deeply passionate about fostering employee engagement, nurturing talent and creating high-performing teams by cultivating an inclusive, empowering culture. Additionally, my hands-on approach ensures that I stay connected to the realities of the workplace, allowing me to anticipate challenges, provide tailored solutions and consistently achieve desired outcomes.

Why I work at The HBP Group

I do it for The HBP Group because of its strong commitment to people-centric values and its dedication to creating a thriving workplace culture. The company offers a unique opportunity to make a real, impactful difference by aligning people strategies with its vision. Being able to drive the business forward while enhancing employee satisfaction is both inspiring and deeply fulfilling.

What I do outside of work

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, two Boxer dogs, and my horse. I love being outdoors, often visiting the Lake District, but also enjoy a cosy evening with a good film or series.

Certifications

I hold a few certifications, including:

  • CIPD Level 3, 5, and Advanced Level 7 in Employment Law
  • Insights Discovery Client Practitioner Accreditation (2023)

Favourite books, podcasts, blogs or influencers

My current favourites include Simon Sinek for his insights on purpose driven leadership, Arianna Huffington for her focus on wellbeing and the importance of self care, and Richard Branson for his philosophy of creating supportive, inclusive cultures where employees feel valued. Their blogs and strategies inspire my approach to leadership and fostering a positive, high performing workplace.
