What I do at The HBP Group

As CEO of The HBP Group, my role is to guide the strategic direction of our business, focusing on growth, operational excellence, and, above all, customer happiness. Our vision is to reshape how organisations interact with technology—transforming it into an empowering, valued partner. We bring this vision to life by ensuring our people are fully committed to creating exceptional customer experiences, delivering industry-leading solutions through streamlined processes. Guided by our values, we aim to create ‘wow’ moments that go beyond expectations, making a meaningful impact for each of our customers.

What makes me good at my job

What makes me good at my job as CEO of The HBP Group? Well, I’ve been here since I was 16, starting on reception, learning the ropes in nearly every role, and eventually stepping up as MD almost 17 years ago. With over 30 years under my belt, I’ve got a pretty solid understanding of what makes HBP tick—and what our clients expect (no shortcuts!). This experience helps me balance big-picture growth with operational finesse, always keeping customer happiness front and centre. My journey through the company has grounded me in empathy, responsibility, and a commitment to creating those ‘wow’ moments for our customers.

Why I work at The HBP Group

I do it for The HBP Group because it’s been my life’s work. I’ve dedicated myself to understanding every aspect of the business and the meaningful impact we create for our clients. Knowing that my efforts have helped shape the company’s direction gives me a deep sense of purpose. I’m driven by the opportunity to build on our legacy, create positive change, and lead a team committed to making technology empowering and transformative for our clients.

What I do outside of work

Outside of work, I’m a mum of teenagers, so I’m basically a full-time taxi driver, shuttling between their social lives and endless sports clubs. When I’m not running ‘Mum Uber,’ my husband and I share a passion for antiques—we love nothing more than hunting through dusty old shops, uncovering hidden treasures. On retirement, we are going to travel the world, exploring new places and adding to our collection of unique finds.

Certifications

Well, I’ve earned a long-term residency at The HBP Group—started at 16, worked through nearly every role, and still here! If that doesn’t count as relevant experience, I don’t know what does."

Favourite books, podcasts, blogs or influencers

Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends and Influence People

I love this book as it offers timeless, practical advice on building strong relationships and understanding people.

Carnegie’s insights on empathy, communication, and influencing others align well with my leadership style, helping me connect more deeply with others—both professionally and personally.

Jim Collins, Good to Great

I love this book at it dives into what truly drives sustained success and the qualities that separate great companies from merely good ones.

Collins’s research and insights on leadership, disciplined people, and a clear vision resonate with my approach as a CEO, inspiring me to focus on long-term impact rather than quick wins. The book reinforces my belief in having the right people in the right roles and constantly aiming for excellence

Matthew Dixon & Brent Adamson, The Challenger Sale

I love this book as it redefines how to approach sales by focusing on teaching, tailoring, and taking control—qualities that resonate with my commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Dixon and Adamson’s concept of challenging customers’ perspectives and guiding them to valuable insights aligns with my approach to client relationships. It’s a refreshing perspective on sales that supports my  goal of helping clients truly transform their businesses, moving beyond traditional sales methods to create real, lasting impact.
