What Will Your Data Migration Process Look like?

Here’s a Step-by-Step to Guide You Through The Process.

Migrating years’ worth of data from your current accounting software system to a new one is a daunting task and one of the major challenges faced by Finance Directors and Managers when it comes to moving to a better system. We’re so confident in our fully documented process that we guarantee the integrity of your data, if it’s not as good as it was before, or better, then we’ll fix it for free. Unlike other data migrations you’ll come across, our method is centred around collaboration and transparency – so you will always know exactly which stage of the process you are at with our projects team and have a sound understanding of timeframes.

Stage One
Project Management and Scoping

We’ll begin with a complete review of your current processes and systems, so we can fully understand the objectives from the project. We’ll use this as an opportunity to answer all of your questions and ensure we have all of the key information that will help build your project plan and define the stages from start to finish. Our projects offer complete transparency and you’ll be involved at every stage, so there’s no surprises along the way.

Stage Two
Installation and Data Preparation

Once you’ve signed off on your project plan, our experts will setup Business Central and get started on creating the import templates. Through collaborative workshops, we’ll show you exactly how to complete your templates so that you get the correct data from your old system, helping you save time and resource. Data cleansing will be recommended prior to import, once we’ve checked the format is correct, we’ll begin to import some of that data (such as Customers and Suppliers) into the system so you can start to see it for yourself and ensure you’re happy with the way things look.

Stage Three
System Design and Configuration

After Stage Two has been okayed, we can begin to configure the company and design of your system based on the scoping and feedback. Once the initial configuration and static data have been imported into the Training company, we’ll present this back to you for feedback and further configuration (and we’ll show you the processes discussed in scoping and how these work) – so the system is set up exactly as you need it, ready for a smooth transition into training.

Stage Four
Installation and Training

At this point, we are well on our way and once you’re confident in the data and setup and you’ve signed off on your plan, we can begin user training with your teams. Our training sessions are fully documented and scheduled on specific areas in the system. We’ll deliver it to elected Super Users who can act as a point of contact for your teams in future, and we’ll record everything for future use and new starter training.

Stage Five
Configuration Review and User Acceptance Testing

Once training is completed, we always review any changes discussed to ensure that the system has the full setup and is ready for testing. This includes ensuring all of your document and report designs agreed in our scope are ready. Then, we can begin our User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and review session. This is designed to bring key users together to agree testing steps and begin testing, which will ensure that your team is happy with the way things work and things are looking as they should.

Stage Six
Go Live and Post Go Live

You’re ready for go live. By now, you will have had lots of opportunity for any amends and feedback so you’ll feel confident that your data is as it should be, and the system is ready to start simplifying business processes and helping promote productivity. Even at this point, you’ll still be fully supported by our teams for any questions or queries which arise.

We’ll follow up with a post go-live review a few weeks later, which is the ideal opportunity for any refresher training once you’ve gotten used to the system.
