The Steps for Setting Up Microsoft Hello
The below covers logging in, setting a pin and facial recognition
Logging in as a new user on Intune
Step one: Power the machine on, which should take you to the Region Selection screen.
Step two: Once chosen, you will then be asked to select a Keyboard layout:
Windows will then cycle through some updates and other parts of the setup. At this point, you will be asked to connect to the internet.
Step three: Your machine will then restart and prompt you to sign in using your work email.
Step four: You will then be prompted to enter your password.
You will then be required to wait while Microsoft completes the setup process.
Setting up Microsoft multifactor authentication
Step five: You will be notified that more information is required, this is where you will begin the Microsoft multifactor authentication steps. Click Next.
Step six: If you haven’t already, you will need to download the Microsoft Authenticator app. After you install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your device, click Next.

Step seven: Now you’ll secure your account by adding phone verification to your password. There is a video at this stage which you can watch, showing the steps for how to secure your account. You can progress without watching the video by selecting Mobile app from the drop-down box, then selecting Use verification code. Next, click Setup.
Step eight: Now configure the mobile app. You will need to follow the 3 steps on screen, including downloading the app, adding a “work or school account” and scanning the QR code.
Step nine: It will then ask you to confirm the code from the Microsoft Authenticator. You will now be required to set a PIN and you will be asked to enter it twice (the PIN is unique to your device).
Note: If your company use DUO, this is not the PIN you will use to sign in with, in future. You will follow the usual steps as outlined when using DUO.
Step ten: You will be brought to your desktop which concludes the setup.
Resetting your Windows Hello pin
Step eleven: Click the Start button > Type in “Accounts”.
Step twelve: Once you see the search results, select Add, edit, or remote other users.
Step thirteen: Select Sign-in options > Windows Hello PIN > I forgot my PIN.
Step fourteen: Enter your Windows Password to authenticate your user.
Step fifteen: Set a new PIN. Enter this twice, for confirmation.
How to setup facial recognition
Step sixteen: Click the Windows ‘Start’ button and navigate to the ‘Settings’ option.
Step seventeen: Select “Accounts” and then “Sign-in Options”.
Step eighteen: Once you’ve accessed these settings, select “Set up” alongside the “Use your face to sign into Windows, apps, and services” section and click the “Get started” button and confirm your current password or PIN.
Step nineteen: Look directly into the camera for Windows 11 to create a facial recognition profile of your face.
Step twenty: Click the “Close” button to complete the setup, then lock your workstation to test that this now works as expected.
